Fuel prices in Italië

Italian fuel prices are reported via the Osservatorio Prezzi Carburanti. “Servito” (full service) costs 10–20 cents more per litre than “fai-da-te” (self service); always choose self service when available.

Taxes

Accisa plus 22% IVA. Italy has one of the highest excise rates on petrol in the EU.

When prices dip

Prices tend to drift down through the week and rise Friday afternoon ahead of weekend travel.

Tips

• Avoid Autostrada service areas — Area di Servizio prices are €0.20+/L above town stations.
• IP, Q8 and ENI dominate, but unbranded “pompe bianche” are normally cheapest.
• Check border savings into Slovenia and Switzerland for Euro 95.
